Practices ask the HIPAA question first. We answer it first.
- We sign a Business Associate Agreement before any PHI is touched.
- During build, our access to PHI is limited to what is needed to ship; controls are documented in the BAA.
- At handoff, you take the source, the data, the encryption keys, and the documentation. We retain no PHI. We provide written confirmation of wipe from dev environments.
- The HIPAA Security Risk Assessment for the toolkit is delivered as part of the Evidence Binder container.
- US-hosted only. Hosting options: your AWS or Azure account, our managed AWS account under a signed BAA, or on-prem for practices that require it. In every case, ongoing platform usage is billed to you directly by your provider; AC5 Labs does not resell or mark up hosting.

Is this an EHR?
No. The toolkit sits next to your EHR. We do not chart, prescribe, image, plan treatment, submit claims, or book appointments. Those stay in Dentrix, Open Dental, Curve, athenaHealth, Epic, or whatever you already use.
Will it replace Dentrix, Open Dental, Curve, or Epic?
No. It replaces the spreadsheets and SaaS subscriptions you run around your EHR: intake, recall, reviews, compliance, reporting, vendor tracking, cash forecasting, staff licensing.
Will you sign a BAA?
Yes. We sign a Business Associate Agreement before any PHI is touched. Controls and access scope are documented in the BAA.
Where is the data hosted?
Your choice. We deploy into your AWS or Azure account, into our managed AWS account under a signed BAA, or on-prem if your practice or specialty requires it. US-hosted in every case.
What happens if AC5 disappears?
You own the source code, the database, the encryption keys, and the documentation. Any competent developer can pick it up. Nothing breaks the day we stop being your partner.
Can I add containers later?
Yes. The toolkit is modular by design. Add a container in a future engagement and it slots into the same baseline. Foundation controls and theming carry forward.
Do you integrate with my PMS?
Read-only export and one-way sync to common practice management systems. We do not write to the clinical record. The PMS stays the source of truth.
Is this only for dentists?
No. Every container works for any small-practice specialty: medical, dental, veterinary, chiropractic, optometry, physical therapy, dermatology, podiatry, and pediatric or family medicine.
